A little inspiration

25 01 2010

As we head down the final stretch, we wanted to remind you about the difference you are making. And as Darren Lee from Oxford’s FM107.9 said, think of the children.

With the help of a Children’s Miracle Network hospital, children of all ages and backgrounds receive treatment for every imaginable disease and injury – from asthma and broken bones to cancer and heart defects. Children’s hospitals are also the front lines of research, education and outreach programmes that keep millions of children out of the hospital each year.

Children’s Miracle Network hospitals depend on community support to help fund vital services, specialised care and unique programmes designed specifically for children. Most funds are raised a pound/euro or two at a time by caring individuals, like you!

Thank you for dropping the drink, and helping make miracle happen!

The Ultimate New Year’s Resolution

28 12 2009

Looking for a new year’s resolution?  Why not choose one that starts 2010 on a healthy note, and benefits sick children all over Ireland at the same time?

Drop The Drink is an online fundraising initiative that encourages individuals or groups to give up drinking alcohol for the month of January at www.dropthedrink.org and raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, a charity funding children’s hospitals and health care programmes across the country.

According to an online survey of Irish adults carried out by Children’s Miracle Network, over 30% of respondents drink alcohol on an average of 10 or more days throughout the festive season. Almost half of those surveyed admitted to drinking an average of between 4-7 drinks at their Christmas party, citing the hangovers as their biggest regret!

Improved health, losing weight and saving money emerged as the top motivational factors to giving up drink while an overwhelming 80% of respondents would cut it out to raise money for charity.

The survey ranked the most popular New Year’s Resolutions as improving health (35.9%), losing weight (29.7%) and sorting out finances (15.6%). So why not challenge yourself for the New Year; encourage positive change and raise much needed funds for your local children’s hospital?

Signing up here at the official portal of the month-long campaign, is easy and all you need to do is send your customised pledge page to your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you, or even join you!
